Planning also reduces the risks of uncertainty. It is also the case that development planning provides certainty and improves the quality of decision-making process for all parts of government — from national, regional to local governments — and for the private sector.

When planning for economic development, the goal is to create and maintain a strong, vibrant local economy. The economic development plan provides a comprehensive overview of the economy, sets policy direction for economic growth, and identifies strategies, programs, and projects to improve the economy.

The planning process provides the information top management needs to make effective decisions about how to allocate the resources in a way that will enable the organization to reach its objectives. Productivity is maximized and resources are not wasted on projects with little chance of success. I talked about efficiency, getting better and adding a touch of professionalism above. The result of all these become productivity. Once you have cut out all excesses and you are motivated, nothing can stop you then from attaining your goals. You will not only get to the target but could also diversify and go beyond. This might seem a bit obvious but I have decided to use it to crown it all. The main reason for planning is to succeed.

Even though success is subjective because what Mr. A describes as success might not be the same as Mr. The goal you define for yourself and plan towards will be the yardstick for measuring your own success. Planning can be a lot of work but it always pays in the long run.

Once you take your time to get it right, and you follow through with the right plan, you will record success. Plan constructively, execute meticulously, and get inevitable success. Having a plan to guide the direction of the company allows managers to choose assignments for employees to work on that make the most sense to meet the objectives of the business.

When everyone works together on projects that can have the most impact, it puts the company in a better position to achieve success. When a company has a plan in place, management is better-equipped to handle uncertainty. Plans can be created to handle possible future scenarios, so that the company is prepared for any situation with a list of resources.

Ambiguous circumstances can bring a company down, but proper preparation can be the key to staying afloat during hard times. Proper planning allows management to expand the business. When a plan is in place, management is able to easily review the strengths and weaknesses of the company.

This allows leaders to map out areas into which the business could successfully expand.
