Now I have to admit here that I love pulp fiction. As an older gamer who grew up at the tail end of pulp fiction, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to play the game. The Phantom, for those who are not aware, was the first hero in tights. They made their first appearance in , and continue to be published today. Not to mention the movie with Billy Zane from This game is a pure joy to set up for a solo play. It sets up in minutes. Tear down takes about 10 minutes, as you need to order the cards to fit the narrative nature of the game.
While the cards were not as high quality as some games, I used sleeves to ensure a feel and texture that I prefer to handle - and of course to protect the cards. There are a few tokens that fit nicely into an included bag; however, I chose to use a geek box for easier access and set-up during play.
There are three stories included with the core game. Set the hero board down for your legend. You can play with The Phantom, Diana, or both.
Then separate and shuffle your decks, into the wound cards and the unique deck that you get with both legends. The game is played in phases. Once you are familiar with the rules, select a story. Each story is self-contained with the narrative deck. You start reading the first part and just follow the instructions, which may include additional cards to your legends deck, cards for the destiny deck, and object cards.
Once you set up the game, you start through the various phases. You start each turn with the recovery phase, where you can heal wounds or untap exhausted allies. You then draw the destiny card that needs to be addressed during your turn, or turns through the objective.
I like to make it seem like I fail the first time then lift up their hands and show them the deck. If you are only gonna carry one gimmicked deck for your EDC make it this.
This is great by itself or also as the final phase in your ambitious card routine. This is worth the money one hundred percent. This is the second deck I've got of these. Let someone else buy the last deck as they needed it for a show ASAP. I've used these a few times and it's always gotten gasps when the cards are "gone".
It uses a similar premise to that of the Omni Deck, where a deck of cards becomes transparent. The advantage of this over the omni deck is that at the end of the routine you can spread the cards and they all become transparent instead of a solid clear block. Joshua uses a super method where as you spread the deck, the card that has previously been selected appears to visibly materialise in the middle of the transparent deck.
Resets instantly Can be performed in any surroundings. Cons You need to carry an additional deck of cards. The deck is so simple, but very affective.
This gets great reactions. Its omni deck on steroids. I might get another deck sometime in the future. Really recommend this to every close up magician, especially to card magicians. Joshua is a great teacher. There's nothing bad to say about this product. Extremely easy to perform, and really powerful kicker ending to any card routine!
It's so different from other card tricks but so strong that your spectators are bound to remember you. This gets some of the biggest reactions of anything I perform! Highly recommend! The box they come in says Phantom Deck on the box, much like in the product image, so you would need to place these in a new box if you were producing them in that way.
We find most people slip them into performance without a box. Tony answers: The phantom deck comes with a pack of clear cards and an online instruction. You can do this trick without palming so the small hand doesn't matter.
Steven answers: I have the original phantom deck which I love. I also have small hands which handling cards has never been a problem. Dave asks: Is the phantom deck I bought at Blackpool convention the same as you are selling now bought them off George on your stand also have the originals when 1st released 1.
Magic responds: Unless you have very oily hands, the surface doesn't pick up many fingerprints. They will pick up minor scuffs with use, but my personal deck still looks great.
Magic responds: This isn't a "3. John — Thanks again for the post. You are correct. They likely had those exact same expenses. I never said otherwise. And I only mentioned my products because you mentioned it my book in your post.
I was very surprised that a product supported by Mr Jay was so bad as i loved Inferno etc. My main issue is the fact that on the video the main effect DOES require the switch to take place and the audience not to notice this has happened the quality of white edges was so poor this would not be possible. Steve — Thanks for the feedback.
I agree. This was a little bit below the standard that I typically associate with Joshua Jay. Josh released this, and instructions were on DVD, about a year or so ago, and I am wondering if there is any differences in the physical product? The DVD that came with this version is really well done. Guess I am confused with what the need was to remake the product? John — Yeah. Maybe they ran out of inventory and went back into production? I hate to hear that Vanishing Inc products are not up to par, I purchased The Cooler and was very disappointed.
As for this effect, I would pass. I do Sankeys Fade Away where the entire deck turns blank on both sides except the selection… close enough. Jay — Agreed brother. We just got the Jay Trifecta! Hopefully, they Vanishing Ink will take notice and think twice on future productions. So then later I discover you have to switch decks under the spectators nose. How does this make it easy and it must be one of the only tricks I know of where you need to switch a deck?
I saw Shin Lim do this on tv and he does do a wonderful deck switch but you have to be quick to see it! Your email address will not be published. Notify me when new comments are added.
