You might wonder what Bitmap or Raster images are all about since Adobe Photoshop is a program that creates and manipulates them.
A Raster or Bitmap image is a data file or a structure that is a grid of pixels or color points on a computer monitor, paper, and other display devices and materials.
Raster Images are edited using raster graphics editors. Raster images are created by cameras, scanners, directly in the raster editor, and also by exporting from a vector editor.
Corel Draw is a vector-based illustration and manipulation program meant for the purpose of creating vectors that are both scalable and editable for print purposes such as logos, business cards, magazines and related stuff.
It is a software that can be used to create artworks from scratch. In fact, CorelDraw is a tool that is meant to make drawings such as Logo designs, since your logo would likely be used on a range of products such as brochures, t-shirts, business cards to mention but a few.
To understand what CorelDraw does exactly, you need to know what a vector image is. Still quoting the same user on quora from above. Vector Images are created with the geometric primitives, such as points, lines, splines and polygons, to represent images in computer graphics. Vector graphics editors, typically, allow you to rotate, move, reflect, stretch, mow, perform basic affine transformations on objects, and combine primitives into more complex objects.
If you need images that can be used for several design purposes such as logos, vector creation tools are your best bets since vectors can be scaled to any size without losing their quality like the bitmap counterparts. The basic similarity between Corel Draw and Photoshop is actually the fact that they both are in the same graphic design space. The differences between these tools as seen below would further make you understand the idea.
Sorry to say but since ADOBE is so much more popular, there's a much bigger range of talented artists. Some people on this forum might react negatively to my reply, but it's undisputable. Corel is not in schools. So, If ever you become professional, and become successful to a point where you might need help. You'll find so much more artists with the other brand than we promote here. Sad fact. Think small business? Thinking BIG? This is my opinion. CorelDraw looked better for having a better, easier and more elegant working interface.
So I bought it. I worked in Photoshop thus I wanted to buy the last version even if I was tired by Pho interface and price. So I told myself if I have already bought the Photo-Paint within the CD programme, then I can try its own possiblities, how it can make some complicated photoes retauching and composing. I had learnt PP and knew that this program was very good and it had a very high capability of working at complicated things, so now I working my photoes in PP, not in Pho.
Yes, it is true, that PP does not have so many tools and techniques for working as Pho, but if an user is creative, it is possible to do nearly everything in PP, too. In summary, if an graphical user not has a large firm with a lot of specialists then the CorelDraw will fit better for sigle users and smaller firms to work out vector graphics, photoes and texts.
It is my view. Photoshop is a raster program, meaning it interprets data in pixels. Each pixel has a finite amount of information and can only be distorted so much. This is called the DPI dots per inch. Photoshop is great for just that, working with photos.
It allows you to layer images and work with each layer independently. It is easy to design and manipulate images within the software. This program is very popular with artists and designers. To successfully work with vector images you will need to use Adobe Illustrator which is a sister program to Photoshop and uses the same tools. Corel draw is a vector based program used to make vector art. This means that the artwork is created using mathematical equations.
This allows you to enlarge or scale down an image without losing any integrity in the design.
